About Heather Muras
(she/her/hers)
As a therapist, my style is calm, supportive, and direct. I believe therapy is most effective when people develop a trusting, authentic relationship with their therapist and feel safe to be themselves. My approach to therapy is competency-based and includes being attentive to people as a whole. My experience and education provide added insight into how physical, emotional, cognitive, spiritual and relational issues impact a person’s well-being. I integrate complementary methods and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach customized to the goals of each client. With compassion and understanding, I work with each client to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing while in therapy.
My work draws primarily from relational and systemic approaches, and is influenced by AIR Network Therapy, Attachment Based, Family Systems. cognitive-behavioral and trauma-focused therapies. I am an LGBTQIA+ ally, and practice from an inclusive, affirmative, and culturally sensitive stance.
I have extensive professional experience working with adults in individual and couple settings around a variety of concerns including relationship issues, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma recovery, life transitions/adjustment, self-esteem, medical adjustment, chronic/terminal health issues, and spiritual issues. I have a special interest in providing mental health care to LGBTQIA+ clients. I have experience working with transgender and gender diverse individuals, including writing letters on their behalf to help facilitate gender-affirming medical care, following the World Professional Association for Transgender Health standard of care.
Whatever personal or relationship challenges draw you to therapy, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.
